Mission Statement
The mission of Casa Guadalupe Education Center, Inc. is to be the bridge of integration to Hispanics and to the communities in which they live through education and pastoral faith formation.
As Marian Wright Edelman once said,
“Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.” Can you imagine starting kindergarten and before you even enter the building, you are already significantly behind your peers academically because of your economic and ethnic background? Statistically speaking, by 3 years of age, children in a professional family have been exposed to
45 million words versus
13 million words in a low income/immigrant family.
As a non-profit organization,
Casa Guadalupe Education Center Inc. has the opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of the children in our communities. By offering tutoring/mentoring programs, the child has an opportunity to work one-on-one with a tutor. Our program is totally staffed with volunteers whose talents range from retired teachers and reading specialists to high school honor students. We lay the grounds work for each child’s personal success. Those children, if given the opportunity to reach their fullest potential, could be the future leaders in our communities.
“It is better to build strong children than repair broken men”. Frederick Douglas. Children with reading difficulties that fail to catch up with their peers usually carry those difficulties into adulthood. Currently, over 50% of people with the lowest literacy skills live in poverty. This cycle can be changed within their families.
Would you consider investing in an opportunity to improve the life of a child through education?
Our goal is to continue to make significant strides in education as the needs for our services increase. With your tax deductible donation, we will continue to see improvements in our community.
